I've long had a suspicious eye on Matt Furey, and I've been around martial arts long enough to be able to spot a fake when I see one. The problem isn't that Furey doesn't know what he's doing -- apparently he's a champion collegiate wrestling and a master of some-Chinese-thing-or-other. I don't feel like looking up the name of it. And since this is a blog and not a doctor's thesis, I don't need to cite references or offer any proof. It is my opinion that Matt Furey doesn't give a damn about anything other than stealing your money.
I can tell this easily because everything he does revolves around selling products using the same tired ad copy that asks for extortionate amounts of money. That was just my hunch.
But then I found an article on Scientific Wrestling about this same topic, and not only was Furey ousted in the article, so was Tony Cecchine (I had a couple links to Cecchine videos on here until today). The reason I have removed them is simple: I can't stand people who are dishonest or greedy. The fact that the videos I had linked to demonstrated good technique doesn't matter -- I won't have that shit on my site. If you haven't figured out that I care more about doing things right than taking your money (it's called value), you need to spend more time over at Fatal Fitness.
So are these fightin' words? Possibly. I'd be pissed off if I were one of these guys, but it doesn't matter. Do I give a shit if they're pissed? No. Do I think Matt Furey is a tool? Yeah.
Special thanks to Jake Shannon for putting out that article (with words from Karl Gotch included). That made my day.
