Character in Martial Arts: Let's Talk About Fraud and Greed

I've long had a suspicious eye on Matt Furey, and I've been around martial arts long enough to be able to spot a fake when I see one. The problem isn't that Furey doesn't know what he's doing -- apparently he's a champion collegiate wrestling and a master of some-Chinese-thing-or-other. I don't feel like looking up the name of it. And since this is a blog and not a doctor's thesis, I don't need to cite references or offer any proof. It is my opinion that Matt Furey doesn't give a damn about anything other than stealing your money.

Scientific Wrestling Certification

I stumbled upon this the other day on the SW site and man -- what an awesome thing! I did notice they do their certs and affiliates just like CrossFit does, not a bad model at all, but I think I'll start off with just the Level 1 certification (I could be a certified Catch Wrestling trainer!) without the Toe-Hold Club affiliation. We could do that later on.

Again, my skepticism comes into play, but the cert comes also highly regarded by some pretty world class wrestlers. We shall see I suppose, and I'll definitely post an update on here as to what I think of the audit when I go.

Efficiency

I'm sure you guys are all the same as me: you watch the UFC because it's exciting as hell, yet you're constantly finding yourself getting pissed off at what a lot of the fighters are doing--or not doing.

Combating Criticism of Mixed Martial Arts

Misconceptions about mma are everywhere. I read articles, watch videos, and hear crap all the time about how violent/dangerous/inhumane/terrible/whatever mma is, and the thing that gets me is that ALL of these reports--which are supposed to be unbiased and based on fact--are all retarded, based entirely on ignorance, and devoid of any facts. They are the opinions of their authors.
