Fatal Fighter is the place for functional martial arts--we're all about pushing ourselves to the edge in both training and educating people in the most primal form of combatives--fighting for survival. We believe that hard work pays off the largest, fastest dividends, and we're prepared to offer you our resources to help you follow a path that we believe is the only true path to self-preservation. Every person should possess the skills necessary to defend themselves, their family, their friends. There's no reason to go through life hoping that someone else will be there to protect you. It's never too late to learn these valuable skills. So whatever your goal is, we can help. We take a no-nonsense approach to things here. That includes skills, thoughts, and conditioning. Welcome to Fatal Fighter.
| Armbar | Your assignment today is to research the armbar and post discussions in the Morgue under Daily Assignments. (What are some variations? What are its strengths and weakness?) |
"Training is one of the most neglected phases of athletics. Too much time is given to the development of skill and too little to the development of the individual for participation." --Bruce Lee |

Problems viewing videos? Karo Parisyan demos a nifty Kimura takedown and then finishes with the Kimura from side control. |
I've long had a suspicious eye on Matt Furey, and I've been around martial arts long enough to be able to spot a fake when I see one. The problem isn't that Furey doesn't know what he's doing -- apparently he's a champion collegiate wrestling and a master of some-Chinese-thing-or-other. I don't feel like looking up the name of it. And since this is a blog and not a doctor's thesis, I don't need to cite references or offer any proof. It is my opinion that Matt Furey doesn't give a damn about anything other than stealing your money.
I stumbled upon this the other day on the SW site and man -- what an awesome thing! I did notice they do their certs and affiliates just like CrossFit does, not a bad model at all, but I think I'll start off with just the Level 1 certification (I could be a certified Catch Wrestling trainer!) without the Toe-Hold Club affiliation. We could do that later on.
Again, my skepticism comes into play, but the cert comes also highly regarded by some pretty world class wrestlers. We shall see I suppose, and I'll definitely post an update on here as to what I think of the audit when I go.
I'm sure you guys are all the same as me: you watch the UFC because it's exciting as hell, yet you're constantly finding yourself getting pissed off at what a lot of the fighters are doing--or not doing.
So the last 4 weeks I've been trying to get back into shape, but I dont know if I'm combining enough cardio with weight training....is there any kind of way to know if you're doing things right for sure?????
Misconceptions about mma are everywhere. I read articles, watch videos, and hear crap all the time about how violent/dangerous/inhumane/terrible/whatever mma is, and the thing that gets me is that ALL of these reports--which are supposed to be unbiased and based on fact--are all retarded, based entirely on ignorance, and devoid of any facts. They are the opinions of their authors.
